I specialize in eye-catching graphic layout and visually appealing websites with latest custom web design standards. My preferrence is XHTML/CSS for coding the final artwork. The sites I create are semantic, tableless, fast-loading and coded correctly using the W3C recommended markup, XHTML.
I'm talking about latest web standards and below are the few benifits of it, which will tell you why to start using it.
In a standards compliant website, the design is separated from content. The HTML holds the contents while visual presentation is controlled by CSS. The HTML uses a semantic code. A semantically structured website uses the right tag to describe the contents within it. By describing your contents properly, the more search engines like google will understand what your site is all about and improve your ranking which will lead you in an increased traffic.
So, this is one of the very important reason to practice web standards.
Your HTML page size will be smaller and it will loads faster, by removing the visual presentation markup from HTML and moving it to CSS. The general tendency is your visitors will leave your website and you lose a business, because of slow loading sites which is boring and annoying.
CSS based layout will work properly in all browsers, even the older ones, because of its backward compatibility. Youll still be able to navigate around it, Although it doesnt mean that it will look exactly the same on other browsers. You can maximize your potential visitors as, it will also be works with other browsing devices such PDAs and mobile phones.
By using CSS, it is very easy to maintain a site for both designer and clinte. You just need to altering one css file instead of editing every single page to change your whole site. For example, If you have 30 pages table-based website, you have to edit them one by one!! and if you want to move the right navigation to the left of the page, but you will be done with CSS, by just editing the positioning values. Its that easy that client might not require a content management system anymore.
